This is Sycamore Gap - our famous tree in the Northumberland National Park. It's the perfect subject for my style of work and people always ask me for it! With the reds in the centre foreground, it gives the idea of warm light pouring through the gap in Hadrian's Wall.
I used rollers and dabbers to spread out the ink then made marks with a cloth and other tools. I built up layers of over-lapping colous by printing several times. I incorporated textures by impressing inked up wallpaper and fabric. I also used paper stencils to make the crisp edges.
