What happens when you stop saving your beautiful painted papers for “the right project” and simply start playing? In this studio experiment, I create a series of small abstract collages on wood panels, exploring intuition, composition, colour and the joy of making without pressure.

I’m exploring bold, large-scale abstract botanical paintings, stretching my practice from printmaking to expressive garden-inspired work. From Rosebay Willowherb to Alliums, I’m balancing recognizable floral forms with abstraction, playing with light, colour, and mark-making. These works-in-progress capture the thrill of growth, risk-taking, and creative discovery.

After three decades as a printmaker, I returned to painting and finally feel I’m finding my rhythm. My latest series, Go with the Flow, grew from an intuitive process using bold colours, collage, and flowing compositions. Inspired by Matisse’s cut-outs and the play of evening light in the garden, these works explore nature, rhythm, and the joy of discovery.
