I’m excited to share a new series of Lindisfarne Castle monotypes, exploring a single composition in multiple ways. Inspired by the changing dawn light on Holy Island, Northumberland, each print captures subtle shifts in colour, reflection, and atmosphere. Through repetition and translucent layers of ink, I explore how one subject can reveal endless moods and moments, from still waters to shimmering sunlight on the sea.

A brooding, wave-lashed take on Dunstanburgh Castle rounds off my Northumberland series — and it was by far the trickiest! In this blog, I share all six monotypes, the technical hurdles (hello, dissolving ink!), and a video of me at work. It’s about learning through doing, chasing atmosphere, and pushing my process into wilder waters. Come see how one piece flowed into the next.

After 27 years as a printmaker, I’ve embraced a new creative path with mixed-media floral paintings inspired by the coast.
