Catching the Last Light captures that fleeting moment when the sun dips low and the garden glows with soft golds and gentle shadows. I was inspired by the silhouettes of poppy seedheads catching the final light, their shapes both delicate and strong. Using layered colour and texture rather than fine detail, I aimed to evoke the warmth and stillness of evening — a quiet reflection on how light transforms even the simplest forms.
 
I used acrylic paints, inks and collage. I make my own collage papers by painting on lightweight sheets with layers of professional grade colour. After cutting out shapes with a knife, I glue the pieces onto good-quality paper using archival glue.

Framed option: The frame is solid oak, just beautiful natural wood 2cm (front) x 2cm (side). Black frame with similar dimensions also available. It has an acid free mount (flat mounted with window) and art glass for UV protection and greatly reduced reflections. Ready to hang with d-rings and string attached.
